breathe on through the night
and in daytime it will be alright
moon flies the over the sky
i see morning light on the horizon
working it's way across the northern sky
even a little glimmer of northern lights
it's over in the country
my friends and my family
we all gather around
for music and glee and me

you woke up to your alarm clock
and wondered where you are
this place this cityscape
is not exactly who you are
you woke up to your alarm clock
and wondered who you are
this place this cityscape
is not exactly who you are
you will stumble around until you found
it is not the game it is just a different name

i am with myself late and night
and i turn off the lights in my mind
and everything is closer in the night
and your turn out the lights anytime at all
i keep a close watch on this heart of mine
and everything fall apart
and you take out the scissors
and make more puzzle pieces
anything is cold
and you bring out the snow
want to go for a ride down
is this love?
i don't want
and everything is dark
and you turn out the lights
anytime at all
and everything stark
can you paint the canvas grey
no colour at all
i keep a close watch on this heart of mine
it is the only one this life has let me find
i keep a close watch on this heart of mine

Yukon Dream
06:30
|
|||
here is a story
of two city slickers
that stumbled upon a
Yukon Dream
living in the great wild open
a northern land they never seen
they sold off all their possessions
and hitchhiked across BC
bought a rifle and a fishing rod
and traveled on trout and rosehip tea
oh in the great wild.
met a geologist in Dawson City
said "There is gold up a klondike stream"
sold them a compass and a map
and traded for his dog sled team
went up the Demster highway
leaves were turning yellow on trees
they were looking for pacer gold
and old miners cemeteries
oh in the great wild
they arrived in the tombstone mountains
surrounded by limestone peaks
they were the only souls around
lost in the Olgivlies
they build up a post beam cabin
to keep them safe from winter
split ten cords of wood
shot a caribou
and wildcrafted and preserved
oh in the great wild
alive in the great wild
soon the days get to be longer
the river ice started to break
set out with the compass and map
looking for land to stake
at a big meander in the river
they saw two grizzly cubs play
in a mountain stream they play
and they set camp on the other side of the river
this is the bridge that they crossed over the river
and they found gold the very next day
oh in the great wild
GOLD IN THE GREAT WILD !

The Fair is over
The Fair is over
and I am not sober
but I am getting there
I dont know
where i've been
I left my mind in a
bottle of lemon gin
I dont know
who i saw
it was Shwarmn Brumner
but it was probably Brahm
The Fair is over
The Fair is over
and I am not sober
but I am getting there
Absinthe for breakfast
Beer for lunch
Not Cucumber for
Shady Grove Brunch
Traveled the country
to see Fred Penner
but he pulled out like a
teenage boy little pricker
(but it still counts!)
The Fair is over
The Fair is over
and I am not sober
but I am getting there
There is always next year
to make more regrets and
make more friends to
drink with to forget.
The Fair is over
The Fair is over
and I am not sober
but I am getting there

Without giving anything away
I can say it's by the sea
It's a house that used to be
The home of a friend of mine
Without giving anything away
You'll find ships inside of bottles
And the garden's overgrown
The house is white but the paint is coming off
I didn't know if you wanted to
When I came to pick you up
You didn't even hesitate
And now you and me are on our way
I think I've brought everything we need
Don't look back, don't think of the
Other places you should have been
It's a good thing that you came along with me
Gold in the air of summer
You'll shine like gold in the air of summer

i am singing this song
it is time it was sung
been putting it off for a while
but it hard by now
as the truth is so clear
that i cry when i seeing you smile
so goodbye so long
the road calls me dear
and your tears will not blind me anymore
and farewell to the girl with the sun in the eys
so i will kiss you and i will be gone
and every time that i try
to tell you that we
that we lost some magic we had at the start
and i will weep my heart
when i looking your eyes
and i search once more for the spark
so goodbye so long
the road calls me dear
and your tears will not blind me anymore
and farewell to the girl with the sun in the eys
so i will kiss you and i will be gone
i can see by your eyes it is time now to go
so i leave you to cry in the rain
though i held in my hand
the key to all joy
but honey my heart is not born to be tamed
so goodbye so long
the road calls me dear
and your tears will not blind me anymore
and farewell to the girl with the sun in the eys
so i will kiss you and i will be gone

sundown in the Paris of the Prairies
wheat kings and all treasures are buried
and all you hear are the rusty breezes
whispering around weathervane Jesus
zippo lighter received the killer's face
maybe some standing ina killers place
twenty years for nothing well that is nothing new
besides no one is interested in something you didn't do
wheat kings and pretty things
wait and see what tomorrow brings
there is a dreamy dreams
where the highschool is dead and stark
it is museum and we are all locked up in it after dark
the walls are lined with yellow grey and sinister
hung with pictures of our parents' prime ministers
wheat kings and pretty things
wait and see what tomorrow brings
late-breaking story on the CBC
a nations whispers that we always knew that he'd go free
and you cant be fond of living in the past
because there is no way you are gonna last
what kings and pretty things
wait and see what the morning brings

wise men say
only fools rush in
but i cant help
falling in love with you
shall i stay
will it be a sin
for i cant help
falling in love with you
;like a river flows
surely to the sea
darling so it goes
somethings are meant to be
take my hand
take my whole life to
for i cant help
faling in love with you
like a river flows
surely to the sea
darling so it goes
somethings are meant to be
take my hand
take me whole life too
for i cant help
falling in love with you

Only fools rush in
But I can't help falling in love with you
Shall I stay?
Would it be a sin
If I can't help falling in love with you?
Like a river flows
Surely to the sea
Darling, so it goes
Some things are meant to be
Take my hand
Take my whole life too
For I can't help falling in love with you
Like a river flows
Surely to the sea
Darling, so it goes
Some things are meant to be

Take my whole life too

Love of mine
Someday you will die
But I'll be close behind
I'll follow you into the dark
No blinding light
Or tunnels, to gates of white
Just our hands clasped so tight
Waiting for the hint of a spark
If Heaven and Hell decide that they both are satisfied
Illuminate the no's on their vacancy signs
If there's no one beside you when your soul embarks
Then I'll follow you into the dark
In Catholic school, as vicious as Roman rule
I got my knuckles bruised by a lady in black
And I held my tongue as she told me
"Son, fear is the heart of love, " so I never went back
And if Heaven and Hell decide that they both are satisfied
Illuminate the no's on their vacancy signs
If there's no one beside you when your soul embarks
Then I'll follow you into the dark
You and me have seen everything to see
From Bangkok to Calgary
And the soles of your shoes
are all worn down
The time for sleep is now
But it's nothing to cry about
'Cause we'll hold each other soon
In the blackest of rooms
And if Heaven and Hell decide that they both are satisfied
Illuminate the no's on their vacancy signs
If there's no one beside you when your soul embarks
Then I'll follow you into the dark

River Guard ~ Smog
When I take the prisoners swimming
They have the time of their lives
I love to watch them floating
On their backs
Unburdened and relaxed
I sit in the tall grass and look the other way
And when I hall them in, they always say
"Our sencences will not be served
We are constantly on trial
It's a way to be free"
Most nights, I go for a drive
To the highest place I can find
Stand there on a cliff with goose flesh
Watching the wind rip the leaves of the trees
Death defying
Every breath
Death defying
Soon we'll all be back in the yard
Behind the wall
Leaving heart
Dreaming of cool rivers and tall grass
We are constantly on trial
It's a way to be free
We are constantly on trial
It's a way to be free

Park ( a feist cover)
03:34
|
|||
Why would he come back through the park
You thought that you saw him but no you did not
It's not him who'd come across the sea to surprise you
Not him who would know where [on the island] to find you
Sadness so real that it populates
the city and leave you homeless again
Steam from the cup and snow on the path
The seasons have changed from the present to past,
The past, the past
Why would he come back through the park?
You thought that you saw him but no you did not
Who can be sure of anything through
The distance that keeps you from knowing the truth
Why would you think the boy could become
The man who could make you sure he was
The one, the one,
My One, My One

I don't want to be here
when you get back from Texas [Chemanius:]
You've been doing some thinking
and I know just where that leaves us
A month ago we were doing alright
Now I'm just trying to get by
This is one of those times
when you're forced out of submission
And the choices you've made
are coming to conclusions
A month ago we were doing just fine
Now I'm just left here robbed blind
I don't want to be here
when you get back from Texas [Thasis:]
You've been doing some thinking
and I know just where that leaves us
A month ago we were doing alright
Now I'm just left here robbed blind
Robbed blind

Don't get down
Don't waste time on things that you can't ever change
I know we all do
Write a song
All your new ones are the best you've ever sung
Write another one
And all you need to do
Is get away from everything
Quit this sad old scene
Come back when you feel the need
We'll all be here for you
Don't get let down
Don't spend time with people you don't even like
I know we all do
Write a song
All your old ones don't mean a thing if you don't sing
Any new ones
And all you need to do
Is get away from everything
Quit this sad old scene
Come back when you feel the need
We'll all be here for you
And find something that will make you feel
Like everyday's too short
We're only here for a little while
You'd better make your mark
